It’s so nice to unplug for the holidays – especially with a few fun and easy DIYs like our cute, little DIY Foosball Table! We’ll show you how to make your own handheld game out of a photo box (with the help of some clothespins, pom-poms and foam stickers). Just read below to get started!
Step 1 |
Project Note: This project is intended to be made by adults only. Begin by cutting out rectangle-shaped goals near on either end of the photo box using an X-ACTO® knife. Mark the spot with a pencil first and then cut. |
Step 2 |
Outline the cutout with colorful tape. |
Step 3 |
Line the inside of the goal walls with colorful tape. |
Step 4 |
Cut small pieces of tape to look like confetti, and cover the floor of the box. |
Step 5 |
Embellish the outside of the box with tape. |
Step 6 |
Using a ruler and a pencil, measure along the long side of the box. It should be 11" long. Mark 1" below the lip of the box. Starting from the left, measure 1½", keep the ruler in place and mark at 3½". Now measure from the right end of the box, 1½" from the edge and then 3½" from the edge. There should be exactly 4" between the two middle marks. |
Step 7 |
Using an X-ACTO® knife, cut a hole big enough for the dowel rod to fit into and move around easily. |
Step 8 |
Repeat the same process on the other side of the box. |
Step 9 |
Slide the dowel rods into the holes and thread through the box, through the hole on the other side. |
Step 10 |
Cover the flat sides of three clothespins in one color of tape. Cover three more in another color. These colors will represent the two teams. |
Step 11 |
On the front and back of the mouth end of the clothespins, attach "smiley face" stickers. Again, three should be one color and the other three should be another. |
Step 12 |
Repeat step 9. |
Step 13 |
Clip the clothespins to the dowel rods. |
Step 14 |
Hot glue pom-poms onto the ends of the dowel rods. |
Step 15 |
Create a ball by rolling up the tape and shaping it into a ball. Share your project photos with #MakeItWithMichaels |
