handmade cheer bow
Handmade cheer bows are easier than you think. With some barrettes, ribbon, and a few other basic supplies you'll have performance ready bows in just five easy steps.
Step 1 |
Measure and cut ribbons, each 30". |
Step 2 |
Hot glue the back edges of each ribbon to create a layered single ribbon. Use minimal glue for a softer bow. |
Step 3 |
Find the center point of the ribbon. Lay it flat with the decorative side to the table. Fold each side to the center point, creating two loops and an “X”. Pinch the overlapping ribbons at the center point together and twist a chenille stem around this point. Trim the edges off the chenille stem with scissors. |
Step 4 |
Hot glue the barrette to the back center of the bow. |
Step 5 |
Cut a small piece of ribbon that can wrap around the pinched center. When wrapping, make sure the ribbon covers the inside of the barrette. Hot glue the ribbon ends to finish the loop. |
