kids club® cactus garden

Step 1
Instructions for the Bright Green Cactus:

Click here to download and print the template. Cut out.
Step 2
_x000D_
Lay the patterns onto a sheet of mixed media paper and trace.
Step 3
_x000D_
Paint both cactus pieces green using Apple Tart acrylic paint. Let dry.
Step 4
_x000D_
Once the paint is dry, further decorate one of the cactus pieces. One way is to dip the opposite end of your paintbrush into orange paint and make dots by lightly pressing it to the paper and lifting up. Let dry.
Step 5
_x000D_
Cut out both cactus pieces. Turn the front cactus piece over onto your working surface. Break the mini wood dowels in half and glue around the back of the cactus to make "needles". Make sure about ¼" or less is sticking out beyond the paper’s edge so the needles can be seen from the front.
Step 6
_x000D_
Glue the other cactus piece to the back to "seal" in the mini wood dowels. Set aside to dry.
Step 7
_x000D_
Paint the clay pot, if desired, and let dry.
Step 8
Fill the clay pot with Model Magic® and then insert your scissors directly into the middle of the clay to make a "slit" the same width as the base of your cactus. Pull out the scissors and wipe off with a paper towel. Gently press the cactus into the clay and mold the clay around the base of the cactus to hold it in place. Once the clay dries, the cactus will become secure in the clay.

Instructions for the Dark Green 3-D Cactus:

Cut out template.
Step 10
Paint all cactus pieces green using Hunter Green acrylic paint. Let dry.
Step 11
_x000D_
Once the paint is dry, further decorate one of the cactus pieces using a dark marker and making vertical stripes down each piece.
Step 12
_x000D_
Cut out all cactus pieces. Turn the front cactus piece over onto your working surface. Break the mini wood dowels in half and glue around the back of the cactus to make "needles". Please make sure about ¼" or less is sticking out beyond the paper’s edge so the needles can be seen from the front. Do this to two of the cactus pieces.
Step 13
_x000D_
Fold each cactus piece in half and glue them together back to back.
Step 14
