You're new to the skills necessary to complete this project, or maybe you've tried them just once or twice before.
Step 1 |
To create the point in the bottom of the banner, fold the felt in half vertically. Measure 3"-4" up the side opposite the fold. Cut from that mark to the bottom of the fold and then re-open the felt piece. This is the base of your sign. |
Step 2 |
Click here to download and print the template. Cut out the leaf shapes. |
Step 3 |
Trace around the leaves on dark red, yellow, orange and green adhesive-back foam. Cut out. Trace around the dots onto dark red foam and cut out. |
Step 4 |
Peel the backing off of the adhesive-back foam and adhere to the felt banner. Adhere the dots. |
Step 5 |
Cut a slit about 1" down and 1" in from the top and edge on each side. Slide the dowel through one slit, across the back and through the other slit. Use image as a guide. |
Step 6 |
Cut a piece of yarn about 14" long and tie onto either end of the dowel to make a hanger. Trim the excess yarn. |
Step 7 |
To make a tassel, use a piece of scrap cardboard about 3" x 6" and wrap the brown yarn around it vertically about 20 times. Slide the yarn off the cardboard and tie a 6" piece of yarn through the loops. Gather the loops in one hand and wrap another 6" piece of yarn several times around the yarn bundle about 1" from one end. Tie a tight knot and trim the excess ends. Cut the loops open and the bottom, then trim across to even the ends. |
Step 8 |
Cut a slit about ½" from the point of the banner. Thread the tassel through and tie a knot behind the banner. Trim excess yarn. Share your project photos with #MakeItWithMichaels |
