kindness canvas
We love the idea of putting our favorite saying on a canvas, so we did! We think you should try it, too. Read below and we’ll show you how easy it is to make this (slightly dotty) inspirational canvas.
Step 1 |
We have a template with the words you need, so go ahead and click here to download it, print it out, then set it aside until Step 3. |
Step 2 |
Use your foam brush to paint the canvas black, then let it dry. Paint an additional coat or two, if needed until the canvas is a solid, even black. Always let your paint dry between coats! |
Step 3 |
Take the template that you printed in Step 1 and center it on the canvas. Use tape to fasten the paper to the canvas – but only on one side. |
Step 4 |
Slide a sheet of transfer paper underneath the template, so that its graphite-covered side is facing the canvas. Use a pencil to trace the saying, using a medium level of pressure. TIP: As you trace the letters, take a peek underneath the transfer paper now and then, just to make sure the words are being transferred onto the canvas’s surface. |
Step 5 |
Once you’ve traced all the letters, remove both the template and the transfer paper. |
Step 6 |
Use your white paint pen to trace the outline of each letter in your saying, then fill it in. Let the white paint dry for a bit. |
Step 7 |
Pour a little puddle of each paint color onto your paper plate (or palette paper) and then dip your foam pouncer into one of the colors. To make your first polka dot, push the pouncer’s bottom against the canvas, twist and lift straight up again. Repeat with each color, making as many dots as you’d like. Let the dots dry.
