I have been deeply moved by the recent events in the United States and have spent much time reflecting on the racial injustices that the Black community continues to endure. As a CEO and a father of three girls, it is important that I instill in Michaels, and in my home, an environment of inclusion for all people to have a voice and a seat at the table. Just as important, is for us as a Company, and as Makers, to take a stance against racism and intolerance of any kind. It is unacceptable, and it contradicts every single one of our values.
But we must do more. Our executive committee and I will work together to address how we can best support the fight against racial inequality. We will hold ourselves accountable. We will seek out opportunities to bring positivity and creativity to the communities around us. We will listen to our team members and our customers as we seek to do more and do better.
I commit to you, our customer, and to each of our team members, that we will lead by example in our stores, our corporate offices, our distribution centers and in our community.
