loops & threads® loops™ cable scarf

Don’t you love the classic look of this cable scarf? It’s super-warm and cozy! Plus, it’s made with Loops™ yarn, so you won’t need needles or a hook to make your stitches (even the cabled ones). Take a look at the pattern below, it's so easy!
Step 1

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: 9" x 66"

GAUGE: 7 sts x 7 rows = 5"

SPECIAL STITCHES:

  • LK (Loop Knit): Reach through the next loop on your project, from front to back, then grab the next loop on your yarn and pull it through.
  • LP (Loop Purl): Reach through the next loop on your project, from back to front, grab the next loop on your yarn and pull it through.
  • 2/2RC (2/2 Right Cross): Working on a right to left row, skip the next 2 loops on the project, work a LK into each of the next 2 loops, bringing them in front of the skipped loops, LK into each of the skipped loops.
  • 2/2LC (2/2 Left Cross): Working on a right to left row, skip the next 2 loops on the project, work a LK into each of the next 2 loops, bringing them behind of the skipped loops, LK into each of the skipped loops.

PATTERN NOTES:

  • Rows are worked either right to left, or left to right, always with the right side of the work showing. You do not turn your project over at the end of the row.
  • Join a new ball by pulling both the last loop of the previous ball and the first loop of the new ball through the next stitch. When you reach this doubled stitch on the next row, pull the new loop through both loops as if they were one stitch.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Count out 16 loops.

Row 1 Work across the 16 loops as follows, from right to left, LK in the first loop, LP in the next loop, LK in each of the next 2 loops, LP in the next loop, work 2/2RC over the next 4 loops, LK in each of the next 2 loops, LP in the next loop, LK in each of the next 2 loops, LP in the next loop, LK in the last loop, do not turn.

Row 2 Working from left to right, LK in the first loop, LP in the next loop, LK in each of the next 2 loops, LP in the next loop, LK in each of the next 6 loops, LP in the next loop, LK in each of the next 2 loops, LP in the next loop, LK in the last loop, do not turn.

Row 3 Working from right to left, LK in the first loop, LP in the next loop, LK in each of the next 2 loops, LP in the next loop, LK in each of the next 2 loops, work 2/2LC over the next 4 loops, LP in the next loop, LK in each of the next 2 loops, LP in the next loop, LK in the last loop, do not turn.

Row 4 Working from left to right, LK in the first loop, LP in the next loop, LK in each of the next 2 loops, LP in the next loop, LK in each of the next 6 loops, LP in the next loop, LK in each of the next 2 loops, LP in the next loop, LK in the last loop, do not turn.

Repeat Rows 1-4, until Scarf measures 66", ending with Row 2 or Row 4.

Finishing:

Starting at the opposite end of the row as the working yarn, reach through the first loop and grab the second loop, pull it through the first loop, *reach through the loop you just pulled through, grab the next loop, pull this loop through the last loop; repeat from * across until only one loop remains. Cut yarn next to last loop. Use a sewing needle and thread to secure last loop.
