loops & threads® loops™ pyramid cowl

You'’ll love this soft and sweet pyramid cowl that is a breeze to make with Loops™ yarn. There's no need for hook or needles, just two skeins of yarn and a few hours are all it takes to whip up your own. Check out the pattern below and we’ll get you started!
Step 1

FINISH MEASURMENTS: Circumference = 26" and Length = 14".

GAUGE: 5½ sts x 6 rows = 4".

SPECIAL STITCHES:

  • LK (Loop Knit): Reach through the next loop on your project, from front to back, then grab the next loop on your yarn and pull it through.
  • LP (Loop Purl): Reach through the next loop on your project, from back to front, grab the next loop on your yarn and pull it through.
  • Increase: Increase by skipping the next loop on your yarn and working the next LK or LP with the following loop. On the next row, work this skipped loop as directed.

PATTERN NOTES:

  • Rows are worked either right to left, or left to right, always with the right side of the work showing. You do not turn your project over at the end of the row.
  • When working in the round you will always work from right to left.
  • Join a new ball by pulling both the last loop of the previous ball and the first loop of the new ball through the next stitch. When you reach this doubled stitch on the next row, pull the new loop through both loops as if they were one stitch.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Flat Section

Count out 35 loops.

Row 1 Work across the 35 loops, as follows, from right to left, *LK in each of the next 5 loops, LP in the next loop; rep from * across to last 5 loops, LK in each of the next 5 loops. Do not turn.

Row 2 Working from left to right, *LP in the next loop, LK in each of the next 3 loops, LP in each of the next 2 loops; rep from * across to last 5 loops, LP in the next loop, LK in each of the next 3 loops, LP in the next loop. Do not turn.

Row 3 Working from right to left, *LP in each of the next 2 loops, LK in the next loop, LP in each of the next 3 loops; rep from * across to last 5 loops, LP in each of the next 2 loops, LK in the next loop, LP in each of the next 2 loops. Do not turn.

Row 4 Working from left to right, *LK in each of the next 2 loops, LP in the next loop, LK in each of the next 3 loops; rep from * across to last 5 loops, LK in each of the next 2 loops, LP in the next loop, LK in each of the next 2 loops. Do not turn.

Row 5 Working from right to left, *LK in the next loop, LP in each of the next 3 loops, LK in each of the next 2 loops; rep from * across to last 5 loops, LK in the next loop, LP in each of the next 3 loops, LK in the next loop. Do not turn.

Row 6 Working from left to right, *LP in each of the next 5 loops, LK in the next loop; rep from * across to last 5 loops, LP in each of the next 5 loops. Do not turn.

Rows 7-9 Repeat Rows 1-3.

TIP: You will end on the left edge of the piece.

Step 2

Circular Section

Bring the right edge of your work around to the left edge to form a ring, and place a removable marker in the next loop of your working yarn. This will mark the last loop of the round. Move the marker up each round to keep your place. Begin working Round 1 with the 2nd loop of your yarn, skip the loop with the marker. This will become the last loop of the round and increase your count to 36 loops.

Rnd 1 Working from right to left, *LK in each of the next 2 loops, LP in the next loop, LK in each of the next 3 loops; rep from * around piece to marker.

Rnd 2 Working from right to left, *LK in the next loop, LP in each of the next 3 loops, LK in each of the next 2 loops; rep from * around piece to marker.

Rnd 3 Working from right to left, *LP in each of the next 5 loops, LK in the next loop; rep from * around pieceto marker.

Rnd 4 Working from right to left, *LK in each of the next 5 loops, LP in the next loop; rep from * around pieceto marker.

Rnd 5 Working from right to left, *LP in the next loop, LK in each of the next 3 loops, LP in each of the next 2 loops; rep from * around piece to marker.

Rnd 6 Working from right to left, *LP in each of the next 2 loops, LK in the next loop, LP in each of the next 3 loops; rep from * around piece to marker.

Repeat Rounds 1-6 once more.

Finishing:

Starting at the opposite end of the row as the working yarn, reach through the first loop and grab the second loop, pull it through the first loop, *reach through the loop you just pulled through, grab the next loop, pull this loop through the last loop; repeat from * across until only one loop remains. Cut yarn next to last loop. Use a sewing needle and thread to secure last loop.
