loops & threads® loops™ seersucker pullover

When it’s chilly outside, there’s nothing nicer than slipping into a cozy sweater! You won’t need needles or a hook to make this seersucker pullover with Loops™ yarn. Just check out the pattern and sizing, pick your favorite color, and get started!
Step 1

SIZE: X-Small (Small, Medium, Large, X-Large)

Note: The number of Skeins needed to complete this project is 6 (6-7-8-8) - Loops & Threads® Loops™ Yarn – Earl Grey

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Bust = 38¾" (44", 49½", 54½", 60") and Length = 23" (24", 26½", 27½", 28½")

GAUGE: 6 sts x 6 rows = 4" in body pattern

SPECIAL STITCHES:

  • LK (Loop Knit): Reach through the next loop on your project, from front to back, then grab the next loop on your yarn and pull it through.
  • LP (Loop Purl): Reach through the next loop on your project, from back to front, grab the next loop on your yarn and pull it through.
  • Increase: Increase by skipping the next loop on your yarn and working the next LK or LP with the following loop. On the next row, work this skipped loop as directed.

PATTERN NOTES:

  • Pullover is intended to be oversized. Pick a size 4-6" larger than your actual bust measurement.
  • Rows are worked either right to left, or left to right, always with the right side of the work showing. You do not turn your project over at the end of the row.
  • Join a new ball by pulling both the last loop of the previous ball and the first loop of the new ball through the next stitch. When you reach this doubled stitch on the next row, pull the new loop through both loops as if they were one stitch.
  • For seaming, either use a non-looped yarn in a similar color and size, or you can open up Loops™ by snipping the thread at the base of each loop until you have a long enough piece for seaming.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Front/Back (make 2)

Count out 29 (33, 37, 41, 45) loops.

Row 1: Work across the 29 (33, 37, 41, 45) loops as follows from right to left, LK in 1st loop, *LP in next loop, LK in next loop; rep from * across, do not turn.

Row 2: Working from left to right, LK in 1st loop, *LP in next loop, LK in next loop; rep from * across, do not turn.

Row 3: Working from right to left, LP in 1st loop, *LK in each of next 3 loops, LP in next loop; rep from * across, do not turn.

Row 4: Working from left to right, LP in 1st loop, *LK in each of next 3 loops, LP in next loop; rep from * across, do not turn.

Row 5: Working from right to left, LK in 1st loop, *LP in next loop, LK in next loop; rep from * across, do not turn.

Row 6: Working from left to right, LK in 1st loop, *LP in next loop, LK in next loop; rep from * across, do not turn.

Row 7: Working from right to left, LK in 1st loop, *LK in next loop, LP in next loop, LK in each of next 2 loops; rep from * across.

Row 8: Working from left to right, LK in 1st loop, *LK in next loop, LP in next loop, LK in each of next 2 loops; rep from * across.

Repeat Rows 1-8 until piece measures approximately 23½" (24½", 27", 28", 29").

Starting at the opposite end of the row as the working yarn, reach through the first loop and grab the second loop, pull it through the first loop, *reach through the loop you just pulled through, grab the next loop, pull this loop through the last loop; repeat from * across until only one loop remains. Cut yarn next to last loop. Use a sewing needle and thread to secure last loop.

Place a marker on either edge of the Front/Back, 9" (10", 11½", 12½", 13½") below the top edge, to mark where the sleeves are sewn in.

Step 2

Sleeves (Make 2)

Count out 15 (15, 15, 17, 19) loops.

Join to work in the round by working the next (16th loop) of the yarn into the 1st loop at the end. As you work the 1st round, watch to make sure your work doesn’t twist around itself. Place a removable marker in the last loop of the round and move marker up each round to keep your place.

When working in the round you will always be working from right to left.

Round 1: Work across the 15 (15, 15, 17, 19) loops as follows from right to left, LK in 1st loop, *LP in next loop, LK in next loop; rep from * around.  ROUND 2 MISSING?

Rounds 2-4: Repeat Round 1.

Rounds 5-6: LK in each loop around.

Increase Round LK in 1st loop, Increase 1 loop, LK in each loop across to last loop, Increase 1 loop, LK in last loop – 2 loops increased.

Continue to work every round as LK across, working the Increase round every 4th (4th, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd) round, 4 (5, 7, 8, 8) more times – 25 (27, 31, 35, 37) loops across sleeve.

Work additional rounds as LK across until sleeve measures 19" (20, 21½, 22, 22)".

Finishing:

Cut the thread joining the bottom of each loop of the remaining yarn to obtain smooth yarn for seaming, until you have a length approx. 5 yds long.

Holding Front and Back together, sew together the shoulders for 4" (5", 6", 7", 8") from each armhole edge toward the center. Leaving the center open for the neck.

Sew side seams from the markers to the beginning edge.

Sew sleeves onto the body, with the increases centered on the side seams.

Weave in ends.
