loops & threads® loops™ waterfall vest

This super-soft waterfall vest is the perfect accessory for a crisp day! It’s made from Loops™ yarn, so you won’t need a hook or needles – just a few skeins of yarn and the pattern. Take a look below and we’ll get you started!
Step 1

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Bust: 35" (40½", 46½", 52", 58"), Length: 18" (18½", 19½", 20", 20½")

GAUGE: 5½ sts x 6 rows = 4"

Project Note: The number of Skeins needed to complete this project is 4 (5-5-6-7) - Loops & Threads® Loops™ Yarn – Wintergreen

SPECIAL STITCHES:

  • LK (Loop Knit): Reach through the next loop on your project, from front to back, then grab the next loop on your yarn and pull it through.
  • LP (Loop Purl): Reach through the next loop on your project, from back to front, grab the next loop on your yarn and pull it through.

PATTERN NOTES:

Rows are worked either right to left, or left to right, always with the right side of the work showing. You do not turn your project over at the end of the row.

Join a new ball by pulling both the last loop of the previous ball and the first loop of the new ball through the next stitch. When you reach this doubled stitch on the next row, pull the new loop through both loops as if they were one stitch.

For seaming, either use a non-looped yarn in a similar color and size or you can open up Loops™ by snipping the thread at the base of each loop until you have a long enough piece for seaming.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Back/Fronts (make 3).

Count out 24 (28, 32, 36, 40) loops.

Row 1: Work across the 24 (28, 32, 36, 40) loops as follows from right to left, *LK in each of the next 2 loops, LP in each of the next 2 loops; rep from * across, do not turn.

Row 2: Working from left to right, *LP in each of the next 2 loops, LK in each of the next 2 loops; rep from * across, do not turn.

Row 3: Working from right to left, *LP in each of the next 2 loops, LK in each of the next 2 loops; rep from * across, do not turn.

Row 4: Working from left to right, *LK in each of the next 2 loops, LP in each of the next 2 loops; rep from * across, do not turn.

Repeat Rows 1-4 until piece measures 18" (18½, 19½, 20, 20½)”, ending with Row 2 or 4.

Starting at the opposite end of the row as the working yarn, reach through the first loop and grab the second loop, pull it through the first loop, *reach through the loop you just pulled through, grab the next loop, pull this loop through the last loop; repeat from * across until only one loop remains. Cut yarn next to last loop. Use a sewing needle and thread to secure last loop.

Finishing:

Cut the thread joining the bottom of each loop in the remainder of the final ball of yarn to obtain smooth yarn for seaming.

Shoulders

The final edge where your piece is finished off is the shoulder/neck edge. Sew each front to the back by sewing 1 front to each side of the back to form shoulders, sewing approx. 4¾" (6¼, 7½, 9, 10½)" for each shoulder seam, leaving the center 8" of the back open for the neck.

Side Seams

Sew the fronts to the back along the sides, leaving an opening 8" (8", 9", 9", 10") long for the armhole.

Weave in ends.
