Blue plastic will not come off
Returning all of these....blue plastic on the metal part will not come off. Such a poor design. DO NOT BUY; it is a waste of your time!

Huge silver thumb screw
No issues with quality or the protective film, but I didn't notice that the thumb screw is silver, twice as long, and a larger diameter than the hoops I have had in the past. It doesn't look like the one in the photo. I may try permanent marker to help make it blend in better.

Pay attention to quality
These hoops are alright. I prefer the brand Joann's sells though. The protective covering on the hardware of these is really difficult to remove completely. My biggest issue with these is about 75% of them on the shelf are bad quality. Many have gaps and splintered wood. Look over the one you pick before purchasing! As long as you do that and gets good quality one they are fine.

Nothing Fancy Embroidery from
Good Value for Budget Minded Crafter
Saw reviews on “blue film”, was concerned prior to buying, but it turned out easy to remove & came off clean. Bamboo ring had some rough spots and small splinters. At such a low price, I just sanded it and it works fine. I think it’s a good value, works for my embroidery use. I’m budget conscious and this inexpensive item does it’s basic job for normal weight fabric. Outer ring is a little tight for heavier fabric like demin. If I want to spend way more money and get German made hoop, then I’d expect perfection.

Annoying blue plastic on metal parts
I've used a few of these for displaying small pieces I've done. They aren't amazing quality, but they are nice enough for what I needed. I did find the blue protective plastic on the metals parts to be annoyingly hard to remove, since they have put it underneath parts that you can't remove, so tweezers are needed & you don't really get all of it off...
