Kazuri Stretch Ceramic Beaded Bracelet, Brown and White Kazuri Beads with Crystal Clear Spacers, African Fair Trade Bead
Kazuri means "small and beautiful" in Swahili was founded in 1975 by Lady Susan Wood and two African women. They started experimenting making ceramic beads in a small shed behind her house. They used clay from Mt. Kenya which gave authenticity to their craft. They hand painted the beads and designed them to convey the colors of Africa. They are beautiful beads and so smooth and silky. Kazuri is a member of the World Fair Trade Federation which authenticates fair wages, and safe working conditions worldwide. Today, Kazuri located in Karen has grown to a huge factory where they make beautiful world class jewelry from clay and employ over 300 single mothers in Kenya. The Kazuri beads used are 1/2 in size.
