martha stewart crafts® marbled notebook cover

Liven up that notebook or journal with a swirl of brilliant color! We’ll show you how to marble any flat surface in a few simple steps. Martha Stewart Crafts® marbling medium makes regular acrylic paint easy to mix and swirl. Choosing your colors will be the hardest part!
Step 1
Project Note: For a video on Martha Stewart Crafts® paint pouring medium, copy and paste the following link into your web browser: https://youtu.be/URPDUi1ilLs.
First, let’s make sure we add paint only where it’s wanted! Prepare your notebook by covering its spine and sides (including the page edges) with patterning tape. Only the notebook’s front should be exposed.

TIP: Make sure you protect your work surface underneath the notebook, too! A sheet of wax (or palette) paper is all you need.
Step 2
Pick out your favorite paint colors. For each color, pour one part acrylic craft paint and two parts marbling medium into a disposable cup (or bowl). Mix the paint and medium together with a spoon until they’re blended. Be sure to stir gently and slowly to prevent bubbles from forming in the mixture.

TIP: Use a separate cup (or bowl) and spoon for each color mixture to help keep colors separate until you pour.
Step 3
Use a spoon to begin pouring and drizzling each color all over the notebook. Gently tilt the notebook on all sides to spread and swirl the paint. Keep going until the mixture covers its entire surface.
Step 4
With a toothpick, gently ‘comb’ the paint, pulling colors into and over each other. This is what creates the marbled effect. You can do it as much or as little as you like! Once you’re happy with the way your marbled notebook looks, let the paint dry completely.
