Beginner
You're new to the skills necessary to complete this project, or maybe you've tried them just once or twice before.
Step 1 |
Cut a piece of bright green cardstock to 2" by 5". Roll the cardstock around a pencil to create a 5" long tube. |
Step 2 |
ADULT: Place a line of hot glue on the end of the cardstock to keep it in a roll. Pull the pencil out of the tube and set aside. |
Step 3 |
Click here to Download and print the template. Cut out the petal and leaf shape patterns. |
Step 4 |
Trace and cut three of the small petal shape patterns (A) out of a piece of brightly-colored cardstock. Fold them in half, vertically, and allow them to open naturally. |
Step 5 |
ADULT: Add a dab of hot glue to one end of a small petal and place that end inside the stem (bright green tube). Repeat for the remaining two small folded petals around the inside of the stem. |
Step 6 |
Trace and cut 15-18 large petals (B) from the same color of cardstock. |
Step 7 |
Use your index finger and thumb to pull the petals, one at a time, through your fingers to create a curved petal. |
Step 8 |
ADULT: Hot glue the arched petals to the outside of the tube, overlapping around the stem, to build the flower, until you are happy with the size. TIP: If more petals are needed, trace and cut more. |
Step 9 |
Trace and cut out two of the larger leaf shapes (C) onto a piece of green shaded paper. |
Step 10 |
Use your index finger and thumb to pull the leaf through and create a curve in the paper. |
Step 11 |
ADULT: Hot glue the leaves underneath the last row of petals. |
Step 12 |
Paint dots around the clay pot with the eraser on the pencil. Let dry. |
Step 13 |
Place the finished paper flower into the pot. Make more flowers as desired. Share your project photos with #MakeItWithMichaels |
