Step 1
ABBREVIATIONS
beg = begin(ning)
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
st(s) = stitch(es)

SIZE: Finished Circumference About 21 in. (53.5 cm), will stretch to fit a range of sizes; Finished Height About 10½" (26.5 cm).
 
GAUGE: 10 sc = about 4" (10 cm); BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
 
NOTE: A flat rectangle is crocheted, then sewed together to make Hat. 
Step 2
HAT
 
Leaving a long yarn tail, ch 53.
 
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 52 sc.

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
 
Rep Row 2 until piece measures about 11" (28 cm) from beg.
 
Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail. Thread tail through sts of last row and pull to gather. Knot securely.
 
FINISHING
 
With beg yarn tail, sew sides of piece together to make Hat.
 
Weave in ends.
