Step 1 |
Project Note: This project is intended for kids ages 8 and older. Clean your mug to remove any smudges or marks that might prevent paint from adhering to the mug. |
Step 2 |
Mask off the top 1" of the mug with tape to keep the lip paint-free. If desired, you can also mask off the mug’s bottom edge and the handle (as shown) to create a long rectangular painting surface. |
Step 3 |
Squirt some of the chalkboard paint onto a paper plate (or palette paper) and use a foam brush to paint the mug. Let dry, then apply a second coat to cover any uneven portions. Carefully remove the masking tape while the second coat is still wet, then set the mug down and let it dry. |
Step 4 |
Once the chalkboard paint is completely dry, write a special message for your recipient with a white paint marker. Share your project photos with #MakeItWithMichaels |
