Awesome!! Better than other brands!
So, when I started watercolor, I grabbed a crayola set. Just to play around, to see if I wanted to delve deeper into the medium. Let me tell you...I made a mistake not buying this one. I recently got this set from a friend who didn't need the set anymore and was giving it away. I took it because I was very curious, because I have heard many good things about Prang. I shied away from buying a set because compared to Crayola this is more expensive. And not knowing if I wanted to do watercolor. I opted out for a cheaper brand, a mistake I tell you.
If you are curious about watercolor, or just want a decent set to play around with. Prang is a amazing place to start.
I tested it against crayola, just to see. Prang is way more vibrant to me, reacts just like a name brand watercolor. Crayola seems to have a lot more neon-ish colors, transparent. While Prang has to me, a more natural look to the colors. Mixing on both is similar, though with Prang I feel as though I didn't need to add as many layers of color to make a beautiful vibrancy, unlike Crayola. Crayola stains, lifting was harder to do. You can probably take that as a good or bad thing though. Dry brush (Wet-on-dry), crayola left some streaks. Wet on wet, both worked pretty good. Still would side with Prang, as it spread more easily and didn't pool in one spot as much. Gradient on both were nice. I even tried mixing skin tones. I was very impressed with Prangs. Crayola I still got a good mix. One big complaint I had with Crayola was the black...I don't know if anyone else had a problem but the black was a dark brown, or a weird purple..? So, I don't know what happened there, but Prang's black was great. Also, you don't need a lot on your brush to get a nice color, so these set will last a while.
This was a long review for a "kids watercolor" but I was very impressed and I love the set. And if you wonder about watercolor, this is a great place to start. I cannot express this enough.

This paint is creamy and bright.
You don't need to make a lot of coats to cover. It's thick and bright enough that sometimes even one coat is enough. My favorite watercolor! I like these colors better than using the big name brands that cost many times more.

I love it
Good quality for the price. Colors generally mix well. I just think is a little tiny bit work with them, but also is because I am starting in watercolor
