Inexpensive way to get a decent mat
A few people said this mat board was thin. Seems fine to me. It's definitely much thicker than poster board. I bought the white and plan to paint it the color I need. It loses a star mostly because of the people at Michaels. I ordered online and picked up in store. They not only taped the front of the matboard, but they also dented the edges and there were marks all over the front. A logical person would have put the backs facing out and then taped it and used more care when storing it for customer pick up. But it's Michaels, so I not that surprised.

Not what I wanted
I don't know why they call this matboard because it's really flimsy and thin. I usually use stuff that's thicker than this, but this is all that Michael's had for matboard. This is somewhere between matboard and posterboard. I guess I'm used to more gallery-type board, higher quality. Also, I had searched for acid-free and this came up in the results, but it doesn't say that anywhere in the description or on the product tag so it probably isn't. That's another downside. If I wasn't in a time crunch I would return it.

Worked well but had to trim
I was using this matboard to mount a piece of art to hang in a 24x36 frame, so I was using it as one piece rather than cutting it. I don't know if the frame was slightly small, or if the board was slightly large, but it didn't quite fit in the frame and I had to trim it a few millimeters to prevent buckling and damage to the art.

Mat Board 24x36
Great mat board to mount my antique buttons. Cuts into the required size of 9x12. Hard for me to cut accurately with out help, however. Really wish that staff at Michael's was allowed to cut it into 9x12 pieces after purchasing. Would save me so much time & trouble plus I would buy a lot more mat board!

Good enough for gallery art
I do my own framing, and always use the mat board available from Michaels. Its perfectly sufficient for use in my artwork, which I show at galleries on a regular basis. Five stars.
