Step 1
Project Note: Use image as a guide.

Cut the sleeves off of the T-shirt.
Step 2
Use a ruler and soapstone marker to divide a felt sheet into three equal 3" x 12" sections. Cut along the lines.

TIP: To make an accurate line, measure one side and place dots on the third and 6" marks. Repeat on the other side. When marking off the line, place the ruler so that it touches both dots.
Step 3
Use a ruler and soapstone marker to mark every 2" across one of the felt strips cut in Step 2.
Step 4
Arrange all of the strips where any visible markings are facing up, and then stack all three strips of felt on top of each other, with the one marked in Step 3 on top.
Step 5
Cut a vertical slit through each strip where marked in Step 3. Leave the top ½" uncut. There should be six wide square tabs created across each strip.
Step 6
Repeat Steps 2-5 for two of each color of felt sheets.
Step 7
Plan the color order for the strips by placing the tabbed felt strips on the T-shirt. For most of the shirt, it will take two felt strips to cover the width of the shirt.
Step 8
Adhere the first tabbed felt strip across the bottom of the T-shirt. To do this, attach a long strip of the Peel & Stick Tape™ to the ½" uncut part of the felt strip and then place the strip onto the shirt. Repeat with a second tabbed felt strip in the same color to complete the first row. Trim excess felt on the sides.
Step 9
Adhere the second color row with fabric tape above the first. Leave about 2" of space between the rows. The row above should overlap the top of the previous row. Repeat until the entire shirt is covered in tabbed felt strips in various colors.

TIP: Use the smaller excess sections to help cover the shoulders and collar areas of the shirt. Some trimming may be necessary to make the felt pieces line up properly to the collar.
Step 10
To create the headband, cut two 2½" x 12" strips of red felt. Wrap the first strip around a headband, starting at one end. Make sure the end of the strip will be covered by the “ears” of the piñata. Trim the felt if needed.
Step 11
Use hot glue to ends together on the underside of the headband, creating a seam, and add the second strip, starting where the first ended and work to the opposite side. Trim excess felt. Set felt-covered headband aside.
Step 12
Cut one of the craft rolls in half.
Step 13
Run a line of hot glue around one circle end of a craft roll half and place it on the red felt sheet, in a corner. Hold it in place while the glue sets and then cut it out as closely to the tube as you can get without cutting the tube. Repeat with the second craft tube half.

NOTE: Each craft tube half should have one end of the tube open and the other closed with a felt circle.
Step 14
With the remaining felt in each color, make smaller tabbed felt strips. Cut 1½" x 6" strips and make 1" tab sections. Leave about ¼" across the top of each strip.
Step 15
Starting at the open end of the first craft tube half, hot glue a smaller tabbed felt strip around the tube by the ¼" section across the top of the felt strip. The tabbed end of the strip should be hanging below the open end of the tube.
Step 16
Space the strips so the top of the last strip will be glued flush with the felt covered end of the tube. There should be one strip of each color attached to the tube and each strip should overlap the top of the previous row.

TIP: For consistency, repeat the color order used on the shirt.
Step 17
Run a line of hot glue around the top inside of the open end of one craft tube half. Insert one of the curling ribbon bows inside the tube. Make sure the outside of the bow attaches to the hot glue on the inside of the tube. The bow should be “spilling” out the top of the craft tube. Repeat for the second tube half.
Step 18
Hot glue each craft tube half to the headband on each side by the felt circle end of the tube.
