polka dot pillow

We’re loving this stylish pillow’s distressed look. Its spotty dots are easy to make with a sponge pouncer and a bit of fabric paint. Plus, those adorable pom-poms are practically mandatory for peak chic, don’t you agree? Read on and we’ll show you how to pull off the coolest new pillow in town.
Step 1
Remove the pillow form from the pillowcase and set aside.
Step 2
Lay the pillowcase flat and insert a large piece of wax (or palette) paper into the pillowcase, to keep paint from seeping through to the other side. Smooth the fabric with your hands so there are no bumps.
Step 3
Pour some black paint on another piece of wax (or palette) paper and dip the foam pouncer in the paint. Tap the pouncer a few times onto a clean area on the wax (or palette) paper to even the paint on the pouncer.

TIP: Do not over-soak the pouncer, as the technique of having the paint distressed is very on trend.
Step 4
Push the foam pouncer straight onto the pillowcase, twist and pull straight up, away from the pillowcase, to create the dots. Add as many dots as desired and let the paint dry.
Step 5
Place the pillow form back into the pillowcase.
Step 6
Follow the instructions included in the packaging and make four pink pom-poms with the larger pom-pom maker. Trim the yarn evenly after making the pom-poms, to tighten the look and create a ball shape, but keep a 2" tail on each one.
Step 7
Tie a knot with the 2" tail left on the pom-poms and use this to sew them to the corners on the pillowcase. Once the pom-pom is sewn on, trim the yarn tail.
