Ok so I thought I bought junk, but come to find out I didn't. If you're new to cricut like I was learn something new from this post. They send the markers top side up and all the fluid drains down to the bottom of the marker. So put them in a holder point end down for a few days before you use them.

I prefer the markers over the pens.  I used sublimation paper and was disappointed with the skipped areas.
