The Citristrip 1 qt. Safer Paint and Varnish Stripping Gel removes layers of paint, both latex and oil-based paint. Its also effective at removing varnish, shellac and epoxy in 1 step. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently removed the carpet in my basement office. While doing this, there was some major glue/residue left on the floor and nothing seemed to work. I decided to try this to see if maybe it would do some good. I was so shocked when it removed most of not all of the residue on the floor and was a very simple and easy clean up! Bonus point for the fact that it wasn’t a harsh smell!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I found this stripper to be easy to use. My first attempt I let the stripper basically dry before I scraped it off, and I had to use a lot more force to get it off, so I found it to be harder and more work, but my second attempt I let the gel a little over 20 minutes, more if you have a thicker layer, and I was able to easily scrape off the paint, so for me I found that when the gel is still wet it was much easier to get the paint off. I found the gel to be easier to use and less messy than a liquid based stripper when it came to removing paint. My wife used it to make her first attempt at Tumbler making with a stripper, and she found the gel to be easy to work with and loved how her tumbler turned out. I do highly recommend that you use protective gear while using this stripper, and although it has a citrus smell and does not have an odor as strong as other strippers, I still recommend you protect yourself with a mask and gloves.

It is easy to use and apply to the areas that you need. It works faster than I expected and I am happy with the results. I will purchase this again for future projects. It is good quality and works well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I refinish a lot of furniture so I thought I would try this out. Can't say I am fully impressed. In my opinion the time it takes to use and the mess you make while using it, just isn't worth it for me. Although the aroma isn't as bad as others its still pretty strong and should be used outdoors. Having to use more than one coat sometimes 3 It's just  not for me. If you want to take the time it does give you a clean surface though.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently bought a table with chairs for my kids' playroom. Unfortunately the table came with varnish which made it difficult to re-paint. After much research, someone suggested that I try Citristrip paint and varnish gel. The Citristrip instructions were straightforward and easy to understand. The gel itself, was also pretty easy to use. I applied a generous coating on the table and chairs, then left them for about 24 hours. After waiting, it was easy to scrape the varnish off. I still had to sand the table but it didn't require alot of elbow grease to get the table completely smooth. With all the varnish removed, I was able to do only one coat of paint. Overall, I am very happy that I got this recommendation,  because the Citristrip took hours off my project. I definitely recommend this varnish stripping gel and can't wait to try it on my other home improvement projects.

Some of the varnish strippers have such a strong smell that I can barely work with them.  Citristrip just smells like oranges.  The stripper took all of the old paint off of my rocking chair quickly and easily and now I get to make the chair look great again.  Good product!

It worked fast, did not run, and did not damage the furniture and also did have a strong smell. The odor was nice and the paint came off alot easier.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This worked well for my project. I followed the instructions and let it set, and the paint came right off. It was only one layer, though. It made refinishing my table a much easier task and didn't leave an oily residue.

The instructions make it seem as though the product doesn’t dry up quickly when applied to surfaces but that wasn’t the case. I can say the smell was pleasant no strong fumes.
