Measure and cut 36" [91.4 cm] of plastic cord.

Step 2:

Attach the middle of the cord to a lanyard hook with a lark's head knot.

TIP: To make a lark's head knot, fold the cord in half. Push the fold of the cord through the loop at the bottom of the hook. Grab the ends of the cord, bring them up and over the metal connector, then through the fold of the cord. Pull and tighten the knot.

Step 3:

Thread a pony bead onto both plastic cords against the lark's head knot.

Step 4:

Cut 24" [61 cm] of two different plastic cords. Tie one end of both cords around the middle cords and tuck the excess into the pony bead. Arrange the cords so one is on the left of the middle cords and one is on the right side of the middle cords.

TIP: Tape the hook to your working surface so it and the cords are stable while you add square knots.

Step 5:

Make a series of square knots for about 4" [10.2 cm] over the long middle cords. Tie a secure knot under the bracelet.

TIP: To make a square knot:

Cross the left cord over the base cords to make the shape of a "4".
Now, move the right strand over the left strand, under the middle cords and through the opening of the "4" on the left.
Grab ahold of both left and right cords then pull tight so the knot works its way up to the top. Hold onto the middle cords as you work the knot up.
For the second half of the knot, cross the cord that is now on the right over the middle cords to make the shape of a backward "4".
Now, move the cord on the left over the right, under the middle cords and through the opening of the backward "4".
Grab ahold of both right and left cords then pull tight so the knot works its way up to the top. Hold onto the middle cords as you work the knot up.

Step 6:

Add another pony bead onto both long plastic cords and thread the excess cords from the square knots through this bead also.

TIP: There should be four cords running through this pony bead.

Step 7:

Separate the long cords and add five pony beads to one long cord and one of the shorter excess cord (from the square knots). Trim the excess cord from the shorter cord.

Step 8:

Add a name (or mascot, etc.) then about ten more pony beads to the long cord.

Step 9:

Tie a knot against the last pony bead added.

Step 10:

Repeat Steps 7 and 9 on the other long and short cords.

Step 11:

Tie a finishing knot at the end of the cord.

TIP: If needed, trim the cords before adding the last finishing knot.
