SPECIAL STITCHES:

Mitered Square

Start with 50 sts with a marker in the center.

Row 1 (WS): Knit.

Row 2 (RS): Knit to 2 sts before the marker, ssk, slip marker, k2tog, knit to end – 2 sts decreased.

Repeat Rows 1-2, 23 more times – 2 sts remain.

Repeat Row 1 once more.

Cut yarn and thread through remaining 2 sts to fasten off.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Square 1: Cast on 25 sts, place marker, cast on 25 sts -50 sts. Work Mitered Square.

Squares 2-4: Cast on 25 sts, place marker, pick up and knit 25 sts along previous square from cast-on edge to point – 50 sts. Work Mitered Square.

Square 5: Pick up and knit 25 sts along top of Square 1 from point to cast-on edge, place marker, cast on 25 sts – 50 sts. Work Mitered Square.

Squares 6-8: Pick up and knit 25 sts along top of next square on Row 1, place marker, pick up and knit 25 sts along previous square from cast-on edge to point – 50 sts. Work Mitered Square.

Squares 9-12: Work as for Squares 5-8, working onto 2nd row of Squares.

Squares 13-16: Work as for Squares 5-8, working onto 3rd row of Squares.

Squares 17-20: Work as for Squares 5-8, working onto 4th row of Squares.

Top & Bottom Border: Pick up and knit 100 sts along bottom edge of Blanket. Knit 5 rows Bind off all sts. Repeat along top edge of Blanket.

Side Borders: Pick up and knit 131 sts along side of Blanket.

Rows 1-5: Slip 1 st with yarn in front, knit to end of row. Bind off. Repeat on opposite side of Blanket.

Finishing: Weave in ends.
