ADULT: To flatten the Perler® beads, preheat your oven to 300°F [148.8°C] and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Now, stand Perler® beads up on the parchment paper and be sure to space them out so they will not touch when they flatten. Bake them for about 10-12 minutes, then take them out of the oven and set aside to cool.

Cut a 48" [121.9 cm] piece and one 12" [30.5 cm] piece from one of the cord skeins.

Tape the 12" [30.5 cm] cord, vertically, to your working space, at about 2½" [6.4 cm] from both ends. You will have about 7" [18 cm] of working cord between the two pieces of tape, which is the base of your bracelet.

Now, fold the 48" [121.9 cm] cord in half to find the middle. Tie the middle point around the base cord just below the knot top tape piece. Make sure the strands on either side of the tie are even.

To start your first square knot, take the right cord and fold it across the front of the base cord, horizontally, making the shape of a backward number “4”.

Take the left cord and place it over the right cord, bend it back under the right cord and across back of the base cord then up through the opening of the backward “4”. Grab the ends of both cords and pull tight against the tie just below the top tape piece.

Repeat making square knot down your base cord, working from the same side (from right to left) to create the twist.

Remove the tape and tie a double overhand knot in the base cord on both ends as close to the square knots as you can.

To tie the sliding knot, thread three melted Perler® beads onto one end. Now, thread the other end through the same melted beads but thread in the opposite direction.

Tie a knot on each end of the excess cords so the cords do not slip through the sliding knot.
