Follow the instructions on the pom pom maker’s packaging to make 12 pom poms using the smallest (pink) pom pom maker. Make at least one pom pom from each color of yarn and then add colors, according to your preference, until you have reach a total of 12. Once trimmed, each pom pom should be about 2" in diameter.

TIP: Do not trim away the long ends on each pom pom. You will use these to tie each one onto the garland.

Make six short tassels, choosing the yarn colors you like best. To make one tassel, wrap the yarn 20-50 times around the palm of your hand.

TIP: For finer gauge yarns, such as Caron® Simply Soft®, wrap the yarn about 50 times around your hand. For thicker yarns (such as Patons® Classic Wool Roving®), you will only need to wrap the yarn 20 times or so to make a tassel equally thick.

While the yarn is still wrapped on your hand, loop a 12" piece of yarn through the top end of the wrapped yarn, then gently slide the wrapped yarn off of your hand, keeping it as still as possible. Tightly knot the 12" length of yarn at the end of the wrapped yarn, then cut open the loops at the opposite end with scissors.

Cut one more piece of yarn in the same color, about 24" long, and wrap it several times around the yarn, about 1" below the knot at its top. Knot this piece and trim away any excess.

Repeat Steps 2-4 until you have a total of six tassels. Trim their ends so that they’re even. Each tassel should be approximately 4" long.

Cut an 8' length of Natural yarn. Tie on the pom-poms and tassels, using a loose overhand knot for each. Arrange them so there are two pom poms in between tassels. Adjust the poms and tassels so that they’re about 3"-4" apart and evenly distributed across the garland. Once you’re satisfied, tighten the knots and trim away the ends on each.
