Heart Mum Backer Mum Base

Step 1 Cut 16 6" of the color of choice 1-5/16" ribbon strips. Cut 16 6" of the color of choice 7/8" ribbon strips. Cut 16 6" of the color of choice smaller ribbons. Lay one of the 6" of the color of choice smaller ribbons on top of the 6" of the color of choice 7/8" ribbons and then lay these two on top of the 6" of the color of choice 1-5/16" ribbons. Take these layered 6" ribbons and grab each end with the layers pointing away from you. Bring the ends together, layered side to layered side, still pointing away from you, to form a “cancer-ribbon” fold. Staple the ends together. Repeat with the remaining 15 pieces.

Step 2 Lay out the 16 stapled pieces around the outside of another heart mum backer. Once laid out, staple them to the heart mum backer, about ½" from the outside.

Step 3 Fold the end of a white chenille stem about ¼" down and then back and forth for about three times. Place the other end of the white chenille stem through the center hole of the 8" mum flower. Continue with the other two 8" mum flowers.

Step 4 Add hot glue to the bottom of one of the 8" mum flowers and place the chenille stem through one of the holes on the heart mum backer. Continue with the other two 8" mum flowers. Let dry.

Step 5 Using hot glue, glue a teddy bear to the middle of the heart. Let dry. Glue the homecoming arch to the top of the teddy bear on the mum flower. Let dry.

Step 6 Line up to the finished Heart Mum Backer Ribbon Base and staple together.

Step 7 Line up a blank heart mum backer base to the back of the stapled backer from Step 5 and staple together. Set aside.

Homecoming Loop Ribbon

Step 1 Cut 13 6½" pieces of the one 5/16" ribbon (color of choice) and one 36" piece of the 1-5/16" ribbon (color of choice).

Step 2 Staple one of the 6½" cut pieces of ribbon end to end to make a loop. Continue to this to the other 12 pieces of ribbon.

Step 3 Staple one of the loops about 4" down from the top of the 36" ribbon. Place another loop slightly under the first loop and staple. Continue doing this until you have stapled all 13 loops. Use image as your guide.

Step 4 On each loop, place a silver glitter letter sticker to spell out “HOMECOMING”. You will have room to add the two digit year in the stickers at the bottom of the looped ribbon. Set aside.

Assembly

Step 1 Cut five 36" lengths of each school colors of the 1-5/16" ribbon. Total of 15 36" ribbons.

Step 2 Cut three 36" lengths of the red 2" ribbon.

Step 3 Using one of the heart mum backers, staple one of the 2" ribbons about 1" from the bottom of the heart mum backer. Staple another 2" ribbon to the left side of the first 2" ribbon and then staple another 2" ribbon to the right side of the first 2" ribbon. These ribbons will help with the smaller ribbons while wearing the mum.

Step 4 Alternating the 1-5/16" ribbon colors, staple five of these ribbons in a row from left to right on top of 2" ribbons.

Step 5 Repeat Step 4 twice.

Step 6 Cut several 36" lengths of the custom printed ribbons as well as about eight 36" of various school colors of the 1-5/16" ribbon. Set aside.

Step 7 Using the glitter sticker letters, place the student's name onto solid color 36" of the 1-5/16" ribbon. Set aside.

Step 8 Repeat Step 7.

Step 9 Using the glitter sticker letters, place “GO (school mascots)” onto the solid color 36" of the 1-5/16" ribbon. Set aside.

Step 10 Using the glitter sticker letters, place “CLASS OF (Students graduation year)” onto solid color 36" of the 1-5/16" ribbon. Set aside.

Step 11 Pick out several trinket garlands. Cut a piece of the 1/8" ribbon about 8" in length and tie to one end of the trinket garland. Set aside.

Step 12 Alternate stapling the custom ribbons, trinkets, “CLASS OF (Students graduation year)” and “GO (school mascots)” from left to right over the ribbons you stapled in Step 5.

Step 13 Staple the “HOMECOMING” loop ribbon in the middle.

Step 14 Staple the “STUDENT'S NAME” ribbons on both sides of the “HOMECOMING” loop ribbon.

Step 15 Cut a 4" piece of the color of choice 1-5/16" ribbon. Fold this ribbon in half and staple to the top middle of the heart mum backer. Attach the lanyard to this folded ribbon.

Step 16 Trim ribbon ends as needed.
