Lay two crafts sticks together in the shape of an "+" shape and glue them together in the middle. Let the glue dry completely.

Step 2:

Hold your "+" shape and tie the end of your yarn tightly around the middle. Now, wrap the yarn across the middle at a diagonal four times, then repeat in the opposite direction. so you have a layered "X" across the middle. (Diagram 1)

Step 3:

Wrap the yarn around one craft stick, then over the next craft stick. Rotate the sticks 45
°, then wrap around that stick and over the next (Diagram 2). Continue wrapping like this, turning the craft sticks 45° with each wrap (Diagrams 3-7).

TIP: Diagram 8 shows you what the back side looks like at this point.

Step 4:

To add a different yarn, tie it onto the end of the first yarn on the back of your work (Diagram 9). Continue weaving around the craft sticks.

Step 5:

When finished weaving, tie the end of your yarn to the other end that you left when you started (Diagram 10).

Step 6:

Now make two small tassels to hang off the ends of the horizontal craft sticks. To make a small tassel, wrap yarn around three fingers about 15 times. Slide the loops off of your fingers and thread a piece of yarn through the loops and tie in a tight knot. Now hold all the loops in one hand and wrap a small piece of yarn around the outside top of the loops and tie a knot. Cut open the loops at the bottom of the tassel and trim them to make them straight. Tie the tassel onto the craft stick.

Step 7:

To make a hanging loop, thread some yarn through the eye of a plastic needle. Turn the ornament over so the back is facing you. Insert the needle through the yarn on the back near the top and pull it through. Pull the needle off of the yarn, then make a loop with the yarn and tie a knot.
