sand dollar sign

Make a sand dollar that’s something special! We’ll show you how to add a bright pop of color by brushing on layers of diluted paint. It’s easy, it’s fast, and it’s absolutely lovely!
Step 1
Squirt some paint onto a paper plate, then mix in water to dilute it. You’ll want the paint to be pretty watery, so that you can still see the texture and grain of the wood underneath as you paint the sign.

TIP: Hey, we like to test our paint on a piece of paper (or sometimes on the back of the surface we’re painting) before we start, just to make sure we love it.
Step 2
Brush the diluted paint onto the wood surface, then let it dry.
Step 3
Do you like the way your sand dollar looks? If you’d like the color to be more vibrant, then layer additional coats of watered-down paint until it’s just the way you want. Let each additional coat dry before adding another.
