Speedball® Black Pen & Ink Set is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ink pen This pen is horrible. It doesn’t work. It stops writing when going around curves. I haven’t been able to use it at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don’t buy this I bought this having prior experience, just wanted a cheap one to have some fun with. Product wouldn’t even work. I couldn’t get any ink out of the pen. I thought it’s been awhile, maybe I’m doing it wrong. Then I google instructions and everything I was doing was right. Just a crappy cheap product. Don’t buy this. It’s just a waste of money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from There’s a learning curve I bought this to draw line art with waterproof ink. The ink it comes with is amazing but the pen itself does look a bit cheap. It gets the job done though and it creates super thin lines (the nib is so pointy I’m worried I’ll stab myself LOL), and is flexible enough to create variance in line width. There’s a learning curve - you have to figure out how to hold the pen and what strokes you can do. It scratches the paper if you use normal printer paper so you want to use thick/hard or smooth paper if you don’t want it caught in the nib. I found marker paper to be the best but even toned tan sketch paper or smooth watercolor paper works alright for me. Additionally, you pretty much can’t write directly up. What I mean is holding the pen and writing upwards in a straight line. You have to rotate the pen or paper for lines of certain angles, or else the nib will get caught on the paper. This is the only major flaw but it has only bothered me a few times. The nib is scratchy on some papers but you get used to it. It’s almost like writing with a scratchy pencil. You also have to figure out how to dip the pen. You’re supposed to dip it only just past the hole in the nib, and not past where the nib becomes a tube. You can dip it super deep if you want but then you have to wipe it both on the inside and outside to prevent rusting. Otherwise usually I dip barely past the hole, and when I’m done I wipe the ink off. The ink stains but it’s been alright for me. I also recommend putting a cap on. I cut off a piece of a McDonald’s straw and stuck it on the nib end to protect the nib (and protect myself). Otherwise overall, after some trial and error, I like this pen. It creates nice lines that you wouldn’t get from a fineliner, and I can use it with India ink or other powder(?)-based ink that I can’t use with fountain pens.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad- Good for beginners I got this little set a month or two ago since I wanted to try out dip pens. It's a good set for starting, especially if you don't want to break the bank on something you're not sure you'll acutally enjoy- it's cheap, but it works, so it's good for beginners such as myself. I'd reccomend buying other ink to go with it though, because the ink provided is not very good quality and is not a very large amount
