spiral tie-dye graduation cap
Help your fans find you in the crowd with this personalized mortarboard craft.
Step 1 |
Cut a square of the white fabric several inches wider than the brim of the cap, all the way around. |
Step 2 |
Wash fabric and leave damp. Lay out flat on covered work surface and smooth out wrinkles. Twist fabric into a spiral tie and secure with rubber bands from kit. |
Step 3 |
Mix dye colors according to package instructions and apply to tied fabric in wedge-shaped sections. Cover dyed fabric with plastic and let set 6-8 hours. |
Step 4 |
Remove bands from fabric and rinse under running water to remove excess dye. Wash and dry fabric according to fabric requirements. |
Step 5 |
Cut a small slit in center of fabric square so that cap button can be pulled through. |
Step 6 |
Spray a light coat of Aleene’s® Tacky Spray™ onto top of cap and press fabric onto cap, pulling button through small slit in fabric. |
Step 7 |
Turn cap over and tuck fabric under brim, securing with Aleene's® Fabric Fusion® tape and trimming excess fabric as needed. |
