spring floral traditional table arrangement

Step 1
Project Note: When creating an arrangement for a tablescape, the most important thing to remember is to keep it low and wide to fit your table shape. The reason for this is to create a dining experience where your guests can talk to each other without having to look around the floral piece. The best way to start this process is to choose a vase or container that fits your style and table shape, and allows for a low, tight arrangement.

Measure the floral foam block to fit in the container and cut down to size with the floral knife from the basic tool set.
Step 2
Cut smaller pieces of floral foam to fill the container. Once you have it filled, use hot glue to hold the foam in place.
Step 3
Cut all the stems off of the floral bush.
Step 4
Cut all stems off of the greenery bush.
Step 5
Begin to arrange the flowers in the arrangement by placing the hydrangeas close to the base of the arrangement.

TIP: The full floral stem will create a nice transition from floral to container.
Step 6
Bend the stems of the rose so they look natural and place them toward the edge of the arrangement.

TIP: This creates a natural look of the heavy rose head hanging over the edge of the pot.
Step 7
Add the dahlias to the arrangement to create a big impact to the arrangement. Position them so your arrangement begins to form a dome shape.
Step 8
Bend the stems of some of the greenery, and place those close to the base of the arrangement. Have them drape down the side of the container for a natural look complementing the roses.
Step 9
Continue to fill the arrangement with greenery. Place some longer delicate stems of leaves at the top of the arrangement to create interest, movement and balance of color over the entire arrangement.
Step 10
Add detailed stems with texture to focal areas. This will create interest to the arrangement.
Step 11
Continue to add greenery to the sides of the arrangement, allowing it to spill over the edges. This low and wide shape is a nice addition to a table.
