springtime slime & jar

Even if it’s cold and dreary outside, we’ve got a slime recipe that brings together all the best things about spring. Add glitter the color of new grass, sequins like fresh buds and even a few tiny butterflies. Once your slime is just the way you like it, put it in a container decorated with pretty flower foam stickers. You’ve made spring-in-a-jar!
Step 1
Project Notes:
   -  You can mix and match any type of Elmer’s® glue for this recipe. We used one 5 fl. oz. bottle of clear glue. If you’d like your slime to look like ours, that’s what we recommend you use, too.
   -  When you’re crafting with little ones, keep an eye on the tiny mix-ins, since these may present a choking hazard.
   -  When making slime, be smart and protect your work surface with wax (or palette) paper. You also may want to wear an apron (or other protective garment) to avoid slime-related accidents.
   -  This flowery spring slime is made from one small batch of clear slime. So, start out by finding your favorite clear glue slime recipe. You’ll follow the recipe’s instructions for mixing up the slime, then add mix-ins according to our instructions below.

Follow your recipe’s instructions to make the batch of clear slime. You won’t add any food coloring to this slime. (Although if you want to, that’s fine!) All the color will come from the glitter and mix-ins that you add afterward.

Step 2
Flatten out your slime on a piece of wax (or palette) paper and sprinkle on lots of kiwi green glitter. Fold the slime’s edges in toward the center to blend the glitter into the slime.
Step 3
Repeat this technique to add two small packages of the jumbo glitter to the slime. Do the same to add purple holographic sequins and large butterfly sequins. Continue folding and stretching until all glitter, sequins and butterflies are evenly distributed throughout the slime.
Step 4
Decorate a plastic jar to hold your slime. Cut a strip of light green adhesive foam and use your scissors to make a zigzag pattern along the top of the strip, so that it looks like grass. Remove the paper backing and stick the strip of foam around the bottom of your jar. Add foam flowers to your heart’s content.
Step 5
Once you’ve finished decorating, add your slime. You can fill the jar until it’s almost full before closing. (Don’t forget to add a flower to the lid, too!)
Step 6
If you intend to keep your slime for more than a few hours, remember that it will keep best when stored in an airtight, sealable container.
