How can you resist these patriotic coasters. Crochet yourself some Stars & Stripes coasters to finish off your summer celebration.

Tip: When changing colors for the final rnd, pull through a strand of the new yarn color as you make your final sl st to complete the rnd. Drop the current color of yarn, and continue with the next round, working with the new yarn only. |
Step 2 |
Star Coaster Using White yarn, ch 5, and sl st into the first ch to form a ring. 1st rnd: Ch 2. Hdc 10, working each st into the ring itself. Sl st into the second ch to complete the rnd. 2nd rnd: *Ch 7. Sl st into the second ch from hook. Sc into the next st. Hdc into the next stitch. Dc into the next st. Trc into the next st. Htrc into the last st. Skip the next three sts in the ring, and sl st into the fourth stitch away. This completes one of the five points of the star. Rep from * four more times. Sl st in the first ch that began the rnd and change yarn color from White to Indigo, as described in the Project Tip. 3rd rnd: With Indigo yarn, ch 1 and sc in each st around the star until you reach the st at the top of the first point. Make 3 sc in the topmost st. Continue to sc in each st, with 3 sc in the topmost st of each of the 5 points of the star. Upon reaching the ch that began this rnd, sl st to complete the rnd. |

Stripe Coaster Using White yarn, ch 5, and sl st into the first ch to form a ring. 1st rnd: Ch 2. Hdc 10, working each st into the ring itself. Sl st into the second ch to complete the rnd. 2nd rnd: Ch 2. Beginning with the second st from the hook, Hdc twice in each st in the ring. Sl st in the first ch that began the rnd and change yarn color from White to Red as described in the Project Tip. 3rd rnd: Ch 2. Beginning with the second st from the hook, *Hdc twice into the st. In the next st, Hdc once. Rep from * to the end of the rnd, then sl st in the ch at the beginning of the rnd and change yarn color back to White. 4th rnd: Ch 2. Finishing After completing the stitches for each coaster, knot off your yarn and use a yarn needle or your crochet hook to weave all your yarn tails. Snip off any excess yarn with scissors to complete. |
