stitched constellation christmas ornament

Step 1
Paint the embroidery hoop with Neon Purple paint. Let dry.
Step 2
Lay a piece of the black glitter tulle over one of the felt sheets. Fasten the embroidery hoop over the two layers. Cut the excess from around the hoop and make sure the tulle and felt are pulled tight.

TIP: Be sure to position the hoop on the corner of the felt so another 5" hoop can be cut from the same sheet.
Step 3
Using a piece of chalk, lightly sketch the design of the constellation on the tulle and felt fastened in the embroidery hoop.
Step 4
Thread an embroidery needle with three strands of the Silver embroidery floss.
Step 5
Starting from the back side of the hoop, insert the needle in an outer star of the constellation sketched in Step 3.
Step 6
Thread a Silver sequin on the needle and slide it down the thread until it rests on the tulle and felt. Fasten the sequin by inserting the needle on the other side of the sequin in the direction of the next closest "star."
Step 7
Coming from the back of the hoop, insert the needle between the previous stitch to connect it and add strength. Re-insert the needle at the next star. This will create a straight line connecting the first two stars. Be sure the thread is straight and even to create a uniform line.
Step 8
After the last sequin is attached, knot the thread on the back of the hoop to secure the stitches.

TIP: To further secure the stitches, insert the needle through the back of a few of the stitches and tie a knot.
Step 9
Continue Steps 5-8 until the whole design of the constellation is completely embroidered on the fabric.
Step 10
Cut five small pieces of the Silver embroidery floss. Tie the strings around the tops of the embroidery hoops to make a way to hang the ornament.
Step 11
Repeats steps for as many ornaments as desired.
