You're new to the skills necessary to complete this project, or maybe you've tried them just once or twice before.
Step 1
Project Notes:
  • All types of Elmer’s® glue work with this recipe; however, we used one 9 fl. oz. bottle of clear glue to make Striped Slime as shown.
  • Protect your work surface with wax (or palette) paper and wear an apron (or other protective garment) to protect clothing, as the food coloring may stain.

First, find your favorite glue slime recipe. Add color to each slime according to your recipe’s instructions.

TIP: Elmer’s® has some great recipes; click here to download.
Step 2
This slime has six colored stripes: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet. Use your recipe to make one large batch of slime from a 9 fl. oz. bottle of glue, but do not add food coloring during this process.
Step 3
Place your slime onto a non-stick surface (such as wax (or palette) paper), and separate it into six pieces, all about the same size. Color each of the six slime pieces with one of the following food colorings/coloring combinations: No-Taste Red (red), No-Taste Red and Lemon Yellow (orange), Lemon Yellow (yellow), Kelly Green (green), Royal Blue (blue), Violet (purple).

TIP: To color each slime without having to touch the food coloring with your fingers, dip a craft stick into the food coloring container. Touch the end of the craft stick to the center of the slime. Fold in the slime’s edges toward the center, covering the food coloring. Continue to fold and stretch to blend the color evenly. Repeat, if necessary, until you have the color you desire. Always use a new, clean craft stick when dipping into your food coloring in order to avoid cross-contamination.
Step 4
Form each color of slime into a long strip and lay each one next to the other on your non-stick surface. Now, fold and twist the slimes together until you have blended them just the way you like.
Step 5
Be sure to store your slimes in an airtight, sealable container (or re-sealable plastic bag).
