superhero costume

Let your little man show off the superhero he is this Halloween.
Step 1
Smooth out the T-shirt on a flat surface. If necessary, iron to remove any wrinkles.
Step 2
Add strips of the black tape to the shirt to create your superhero costume. Add tape from the shoulders to the chest and from the chest down the center of the shirt to its bottom.
Step 3
To create an emblem for the center of the chest, cut several strips of black tape and place them upside down on a surface, parallel to each other and overlapping slightly, to create a solid sheet. Then draw your superhero’s special symbol on the non-adhesive side and cut it out with scissors or an X-ACTO® knife, cutting on top of cardboard. Use the Silver Sharpie® marker to outline the black tape and add details to the symbol.
Step 4
To make the belt, cut a piece of Silver tape that is the length of your superhero’s waist, plus 3". Cut a second piece that is exactly the same length. Carefully place the two pieces exactly on top of one another, with sticky sides together. Fold over or trim any adhesive backing that may remain exposed. Add details with a black Sharpie® marker. Make an emblem for the center front of the belt by layering black and Silver tape into the design you want, adding more details with the Sharpie® marker, if desired. Wrap the belt around your superhero’s waist and tape the ends together at his or her back.
Step 5
To make the mask, mark the sections of the mask you’d like to cut away with a pencil, and cut them out using scissors and an X-ACTO® knife. We removed the entire portion around the mouth, leaving the sides along the jaw and chin. Cover the mask with strips of Silver tape, folding the ends under the back of the mask.
Step 6
To make the antennae, use an X-ACTO® knife to poke two holes in the top of the mask. Take two chenille stems and twist them together all down their length to make a single thicker, more sturdy chenille stem. Curl the top of the joined stem into a ball. Insert the opposite end into one of the holes in the mask. Fold about 1½" of the stem’s end flat against the inside of the mask and tape it in place. Repeat this step for the second antenna.
Step 7
Wear with leggings or pajama pants, alone or under shorts, and comfy shoes. If desired, tie your mask on with a bit of string or twine.
