superhero dad t-shirt

Help your dad look like the superhero he is!
Step 1
- Wash and dry the T-shirt.

- Print the template from michaels.com and cut out.

- The diamond patterns are layered in the download, so trace the outside diamond  pattern first onto a piece of freezer paper and then cut out the smaller diamond shape pattern. Trace the smaller one onto a separate piece of freezer paper.

- Use a craft knife and straight edge to cut them out. Discard the diamond shape cutouts. You will need the piece of freezer paper from which the each diamond shape was cut.
Step 2
- Lay the larger of the two freezer paper diamond templates on top of the T-shirt. Center the diamond tip with the center of the neck opening. Iron to the T-shirt. Use a hot iron for one minute.

TIP:
Use an ironing cloth between the iron and paper for best results. Let cool.

-  Place a T-shirt form inside the shirt to prevent paint from seeping through the front of the shirt to the back.
Step 3
- Load a Spouncer™ with white fabric paint and apply the paint to the inside of the cutout. Let dry.

TIP:
To speed up drying time, use a hair dryer.

- Load a Spouncer™ with yellow fabric paint and apply the paint to the outside edge of the cut shape, covering the white paint. Apply paint about 1" into the inside of the cutout. Let dry.
NOTE: When applying white paint to a dark shirt prior to adding the color on top, the color will be brighter.
Step 4
- While the fabric paint is still wet, pull up the freezer paper and discard. Let completely dry.

- Once dry, lay the smaller freezer paper template centered on top of the painted edge, leaving a ¼" edge of the yellow showing.

- Place a T-shirt form inside the shirt to prevent paint from seeping through the front of the shirt to the back.
Step 5
- Load a Spouncer™ with red fabric paint and apply the paint to the inside of the diamond. Remove the freezer paper and let shirt dry.

- Remove the T-shirt board.

- Lay the shirt onto an ironing board.

- Cut out the iron-on letters desired and peel each letter from the plastic backing. Keep the fuzzy side up, press the letters to the shirt with a hot iron. This should take one minute or less.
TIP: Use an ironing cloth for best results.
