Surfside Scramble™ Word Game is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Hit with Word Gamers A word game with a twist. Promotes thinking skills and showcases someone with the ability to plan ahead. When you form a word, you have to think about what other word/words you can make that begin with a letter/letters of the previous word. For example, if your first word is CAT you could add TIC to make ATTIC and your word worm would look like CATTIC. Next, add ON to make ICON and now it looks like CATTICON. Add TO to make ONTO, and so on. Having a letter on each side of the flip flop makes it easier to make your words. You can earn points for making the longest word and the most words. We pile the flip flops in the middle of the playing surface for easy drawing. At the end of a round, we give extra points when a player finds a word inside someone elses word worm that was not said aloud by that player. A favorite among word gamers young and old at the events I have planned and directed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Family Game! My family loves this game! It's fast-paced, a bit frantic, and totally challenges the intellect. Kids can go for smaller, easier words - adults can try for more complex words - and with bonus points for things like finishing first, it kind of evens out. Fun for everyone - and educational, too. Love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Make Spelling fun I bought this game to play with my own kids and as a rainy day game in my classroom at school. My kids 10,12,and 15. They loved it. I've also played it with younger kids who caught on quickly to the game play.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Build Vocabulary I am an elementary school teacher. I played this game with my 10-year-old son first and he became frustrated that words had to begin with the last letter of previous words, at first. Once he got the hang of it, he had more fun but he said it just made him want to play Scrabble. When I let my 6th graders play, they were confused and frustrated with the game as well. I sat down with them and we played together and then the fun began. They were able to see what I was doing and they caught on rather quickly. Without prompting, they also said that it was like Scrabble but less fun. My students felt that it was a game that was "trying too hard to be educational." I love the concept of the game so I played with a group of other teachers. We had a blast! No one was confused and we were able to have fun with our words and we became very competitive, very quickly. It is a fun and compact game that I would take with me to parties, but the downside to using it in the classroom is that I would need to be actively playing the game with the students in order for it to be utilized.
