You're new to the skills necessary to complete this project, or maybe you've tried them just once or twice before.
Step 1
PROJECT NOTE: To make this project in blue tones, try the following paints instead:
  • 10198168 MSC Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Paint, 2 oz. – Cloud
  • 10346957 MSC Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Paint, 2 oz. – Caribbean Blue
  • 10346950 MSC Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Paint, 2 oz. – Peacock Feather
  • 10198156 MSC Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Paint, 2 oz. – Wild Blueberry

Pick the paint that you want to be the base color of your canvas.

TIP: The lightest color was selected for the base coat in the featured project and we recommend using the lightest or darkest color in order to get the most contrast.
Step 2
Place wax paper (or palette paper/newsprint) underneath the canvas to protect your working surface. Squirt some of your base color of paint onto a paper plate (or palette paper).
Step 3
Use a foam brush to paint all of the canvas, including its sides. You will only need to apply one coat. Let this base coat dry.
Step 4
Dip the pouncer into the second lightest paint color, then slide it around a little on your paper plate (or palette paper) to distribute the paint evenly across its surface.
Step 5
Press the pouncer with even pressure onto the canvas to make your first paint circle. Repeat to add more circles with this color of paint, dipping the pouncer into the paint on your paper plate (or palette paper) each time. Add circles to the sides of the canvas as well.
Step 6
Repeat to add more of the largest size circles in the remaining colors of paint.

TIP: Concentrate the largest circles toward the top of the canvas, or distribute them evenly across the canvas, if you prefer.
Step 7
Select a smaller pouncer and repeat the steps above to add smaller circles in the other colors of paint. Continue to add smaller and smaller circles of paint in all colors.

TIP:  It is not necessary to add circles in the base coat of paint, but you are welcome to try that out, if you like.
Step 8
Keep layering circles in different sizes and colors. There’s really no wrong way to do this. Just keep going until you like the way your canvas looks. Let the canvas dry completely before hanging.
