Step 4 |
Wearing the protective gloves included in package, mix the kit's dyes according to package instructions. |
Step 5 |
Apply each color to one-third of T-shirt in pie-shaped wedges. |
Step 6 |
Turn project over and repeat dye sequence on back. |
Step 7 |
Cover dyed shirt with plastic and allow to set at least eight hours. |
Step 8 |
Remove bands and rinse shirt under running water to remove excess dye. |
Step 9 |
Wash and dry shirt as fabric requires. |
Step 10 |
Lay the shirt on a flat surface and smooth out any wrinkles or folds. If desired, trim the sleeves and collar of the T-shirt according to your preference. |
Step 11 |
Cut off the bottom hem of the T-shirt just above the stitch line. |
Step 12 |
Measure up 8" from the new bottom edge of the T-shirt, and use quilting pins to mark this horizontal line across the shirt. |
Step 13 |
With scissors, cut vertical strips approximately 1" apart through both layers of fabric, creating a row of fringe across the entire bottom of the shirt. Cut through the stitching at the side seams as well, to separate the T-shirt’s front and back. |
