Tim Holtz® Idea-ology® Tag Press is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not my favorite Tim Holtz product I agree 100% with the review written by FrenchAde... I really can’t add anything else that she didn’t already say. I’m a huge Tim Holtz fanatic and have a massive collection for mixed media of just his products because usually if his name is on it... you’ll love it but I was extremely underwhelmed and not impressed by this tag press. I love the tip From the other review to use paper to position the tag into the press as you have no control over where it actually sits in the press and you can’t see it either so you just have to guess that it’s in there and press really really hard and hope you crimped it evenly. There’s definitely a learning curve with regards to placement. I had a Tiny tag fall out and didn’t know it until I pushed and pushed and thought the press ate it! But no... it fell out haha...after ruining about 10 rings I am finally making even crimps. It’s great in theory but honestly if you just buy the rings you don’t need this press... use jewelry pliers or even a small hammer to crimp and I guarantee you’ll get the same effects...I’m sorry Tim Holtz but this one thing I wish I could send back to you! Lol... least I didn’t pay full price...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice addition Might be a bit difficult to manage, but is much better than an older press. You can make custom tags. Use template that comes with it to cut out image. Or simply punch with circle punch. Tip: when fitting in to press, put ring on a piece of paper with removable, temporary tape and slide into position. This helps you handle the rings better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Underwhelmed by this item I was looking at this little item for a while. I thought it would be cute to make some of my own tags with personal designs and maybe use them as gift tags too. But it seemed a bit pricey. Finally I used a store coupon to get it. So if you really want this use a coupon. It is not worth paying the full asking price. When I got an email requesting a review I had not used it yet. This am I decided to try it so I could write it. Plus I had been anticipating making a couple of tags and I needed the push. I used the included clear template to draw a circle then cut around my chosen paper design. You really need to use a heavy weight paper. The rings are too flimsy to use regular paper. Even if you double it. So use cardboard and your little tags will be more substantial. Now for the actual press... The package has no instructions, hints, or suggestions at all. Cut your design out and slip it into a ring. Slid it into the press and hold down the black plastic leaver on top. At first i could not tell where the tag-ring should be placed,or if I was using enough pressure. Sure enough I was't. The plastic lever feels like it may break if you hold it down with enough pressure to crimp the tag-ring closed. You really need to press hard. There is no little depression set in the press to put the tags in for support. You just slide it in and hope for the best. The whole thing now seems to much for so little. I bet the tag-rings could be crimped with a small piece of wood on top and underneath. Then tap with a small hammer until crimped enough. The one I made this am looks nice on one side and flat but not nice looking on the other side. I'll probably keep the "Tim Holtz Tag Press" but I'm now not expecting the homemade tags that I will make to look super cute. They will look rustic. If that is the look you want, then get a discount coupon before purchasing it. I have pictures but I cannot see a way to attach them to this review. Hopes this wordy review helps whoever may be considering buying this little item!!!
