I used these over the weekend to bake a 2-layer cake for my daughter's birthday. Absolutely PERFECT LAYERS!!! No need to trim at all! I will be using these every time I bake!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not what I thought :( So I saw these baking strips and I was too excited because I had to bake my daughters birthday cake in a couple of days. I did everything listed in the instructions and my cake came out with a crack in the center with a dome. I'm giving this product 3 stars because although the cake came out with a cracked dome, the edges weren't hard at all, so all I had to do was level the cake.

When my best friend's daughter asked me to make a wedding cake for her wedding, I was happy to be given this important task, but then panic set in. My cakes may taste great, but they always come out of the oven with an off-center big hill and one side low. By the time I cut off enough of the high side to get an even layer it's about a half inch thick! I saw the bake-even strips in Michael's, and with nothing to lose I bought them. What a lifesaver! My cakes come out of the oven almost perfectly flat and evenly cooked throughout. Instead of the edges being slightly dryer than the center, it's done to perfection from the edges to the center. I will never make a cake without them again. The first time I used them I had to snug them up to my pans. Now that they are the right size I just dunk them in a bowl of water before putting my pans in them. Easy and what a change it's made!
