This product has great pictures!
Product has great pictures! Very excited to see my resident could get what she was looking for! Then went through all the trouble to pick the 2 colors get it all figured out for her to find out you don’t ship to your store in Alaska!! This senior lives through her painting. She’s waited over 7 months to get the money to be able to buy the paint to find out she has no way to get it!

Pigment or dye colors?
You'll notice when choosing the colors, most say "hue" after the color. That's b/c these student paints contain a dye and not actual pigments. They also contain lots of fillers and binders, which will show in your painting. For a few dollars more, buy Winsor and Newton Artist grade paint tubes. Colors are rich, saturated pigments and flow beautifully on watercolor paper. Buy Cotman only when using for practicing or playing with watercolors. It's always best to use quality materials even if just beginning w/watercolors.

Pigment is great.
I love being able to get so many hues from a color by just adding a little water. This brand works great.

Excellent quality for the price
You know a 'student grade' paint is worth it when multiple artists regularly use it over more expensive professional grade paint.

Winston Newton Cotman watercolor paints
I have used a lot of different paints, but the watercolors by Winston Newton are top notch. Years ago I used a different brand but found that Winston Newton watercolor were better. When working with kids, I use student grade but tell the parents to try the Winston Newton's if the student becomes serious.
Michaels has some good student brands. However, for myself, I choose Winston Newton for my paintings, because the colors flow well, and when dry, they still work great. The prices on the paints at Michaels are reasonably as well.

A More Serious Paint
I was told I needed to use higher quality paint so, to that end, I priced, purchased and was very pleased with this brand of paints. Better color, better spread and better distinction of different colors. The price is very reasonable considering performance. I will be buying more in the future.
