yarn and floral wall hanging

Give your home a bit of a Bohemian vibe with this flowery wall hanging. It’s got everything you could want: softly textured yarns, sweet clusters of blossoms and tassel accents. Best of all, there’s no weaving necessary!
Step 1
Let’s start out by getting all of our yarn lengths ready. Cut them as follows:
   -  Off-White Yarn: Cut 40 lengths that are 48" each
   -  Off-White Yarn: Cut 70 lengths that are 20" each
   -  Berry Yarn: Cut 20 lengths that are 48" long
   -  Taupe Yarn: Cut 10 lengths that are 48" long
Step 2
Use your saw to cut two 22" pieces from the bamboo sticks.

TIP: Take a moment to find the straightest sections on your bamboo sticks. Cut your pieces from those sections.
Step 3
Match up the ends of two of the 48" lengths of Taupe yarn and fold them in half. Holding the two strands together, use a lark’s head knot to attach them to the center of one of the bamboo sticks. Make sure you pull on the knot, so it is nice and taut.
Step 4
Repeat Step 3 for the remaining eight strands of 48" Taupe yarn, always attaching them two strands at a time. When you’ve finished, adjust the strands so they’re at the very center of the bamboo stick.

TIP: Have you made lark’s head knots before? They’re very simple! Take a look at our video to learn how by clicking here.
Step 5
Repeat Step 3 to knot ten strands of the 48" Berry yarn onto the same bamboo stick, on either side of the Taupe yarn. (That’s 20 strands of Berry yarn altogether.) Again, you’ll attach them in double strands with lark’s head knots, and pull to make sure they’re taut.
Step 6
More knotting! This time, attach 20 strands of the 48" Off-white yarn on either side of the Berry yarn (for 40 strands total). Now you can set your yarn-filled stick aside for a few minutes.
Step 7
Make two Off-white tassels and one Berry tassel, in whatever size you like. You can follow our steps in the tip below, or check out our video for a handy demonstration, click here

TIP: Here’s how to make one tassel:
   -  First, wrap the yarn from your skein around your phone the long way (or small book) about 25 times. Make sure the size of your phone (or small book) is about the same length that you want your tassel.
   -  When you’re finished wrapping, cut the yarn from its skein. Carefully slide the wrapped yarn off of your phone (or small book), without disturbing the loops.
   -  From the same skein, cut a piece of yarn about 30" long, and slide it through all the loops at one end of your wrapped yarn. Pull the ends even, then knot this strand tightly around the loops. Don’t cut the long tails, though, as you’ll use them to tie the finished tassel to your hanging.
   -  Cut open the loops at the opposite end of the wrapped yarn.
   -  Now, cut one more 8" piece of yarn and wrap it tightly several times around the wrapped yarn, about 1" below that knot you tied. When you’re done wrapping, tie a knot to secure this piece.
   -  All that’s left to do is to trim the bottom of the tassel so that all the yarn ends are even.
Step 8
Once you’ve made all three tassels, tie them onto the bamboo stick, hiding your knots in the lark’s head knots along the stick. Set this stick aside again.
Step 9
Take your second bamboo stick and attach all 70 of the 20" strands of Off-white yarn to it with lark’s head knots. Trim the yarn strands so that they’re even across the bottom.

TIP: You can lay this bamboo stick over the first one to help determine exactly where to trim your yarn.
Step 10
To give a soft, fuzzy look to your shorter strands of yarn, untwist each one, pulling it apart into two thinner strands. Once each strand along the second stick has been untwisted, it’s time to do a little styling! For this, you’ll need an old toothbrush (a brush or comb) to brush down all the strands of yarn, making them delightfully frizzy. You can stop after one round or make it extra frizzy with more brushing.
Step 11
Lay the second bamboo stick with its shorter strands over the first stick, and arrange them so that the second is sitting just below the first. (You may need to twist the sticks a little to make sure they fit together.) Wrap wire around the two sticks at each end to secure them together. Trim away any excess wire and hide the wire end by tucking it underneath the yarn.
Step 12
Cut the heads of the two Ranunculus flowers from their stems and place them on the bamboo sticks at either end of the yarn. Cut a few leaves and tuck them into the yarn. Snip a few blossoms off of the flowering plum branch and tuck those behind the Ranunculus flowers. If not, tweak it a bit more until you’re happy. When you’re ready, hot glue each flower into place.
Step 13
Let’s make a hanger! Cut one more piece of Off-white yarn and knot each end to one end of the bamboo sticks. If you’d like to trim the yarn on your hanging a little more, now is the perfect time!
