Size Matters
Ordered ZEN fan brushes in all 3 sizes when I bought an easel from Michael's. These fan brushes were shipped separately in a bubble envelope, and when I opened them the heads of the #2 and #4 fan brushes had snapped off. The #6 brush was the only one that survived the UPS trip. Called Michael's and they sent out a complete order replacement of the brushes which was nice. But these brushes should probably be shipped in something sturdier than a bubble type envelope because they are NOT metal and they can break. They only have a metallic finish on them. Also the difference in the sizes between the #2, #4, and the #6 was only minimal. I imagined they would be sized by "width" with the #2 being about 1/2" wide, #4 being 3/4" and the #6 being about 1", but they weren't sized that way. Instead they appeared to be sized by the length of the bristles and NOT the actual width spread. The "width" was nearly the same on all 3 brushes, but the lengths of the bristles were ever so slightly longer from low # to high #. I usually use fan brushes for painting evergreen trees, and hoped that I could use the #2 brush to do small trees, #4 for medium trees, and #6 for larger trees, but since the widths are so similar, that is probably not an option with these brushes. Will probably look for another brand of fan brush that has more variation in "width" sizes.

Great brush for detailing
I have used the fan brush to detail out trees and leaves of shrubs and the effect is beautiful. The bristles are fine so need very little paint and works best when dry. This is a great buy for a beginner artists!

Appropriate for blending and durable.
This brush is the fourth I have bought from the Zen collection. They are sturdy brushes good for fine art as well as detailed crafting. I use them for acrylic portraiture. The fan brush is my go to for blending. The metallic coating is easy to scrub too.
