Turn any glass jar into eye-catchy decor.

You can buy a vase from Michael's in any shape size, or you can use something you already have, like an empty candle jar or yogurt container!

Choose a Glassware

Cut out a piece of paper about the size of your glassware. Draw any design you like, but try to avoid fine lines (I drew fine lines because I like to give myself a hard time). If you choose a symmetrical design like I did, you can just fold your paper in half and draw on one side.

Draw a Design

Cut out the larger shapes using an exacto knife. I did not cut out the fine lines because they're hard to cut and the surrounding areas don't stay in place when you paint. If you have a symmetrical design, just fold the stencil in half and then cut over your drawing. Take your time to cut safely!

Cut Out Shapes from Stencil

Tape the stencil to your glassware and use a sponge to dab paint over the stencil. Make sure the sponge only has a thin layer of paint on it. Let the paint dry for a few minutes and add another layer if the design is not opaque yet.

Attach Your Stencil & Then Paint

Carefully peel off the tape and the stencil. Take a minute to admire your work so far.

Use a brush to add the fine lines if you decided to draw them.

Add a border of dots, using washi tape as a guide for a straight line. Use the dotting tool to draw the flower petals (you can use a brush if you prefer).
