<li>&nbsp; Lay down a drop cloth or old newspapers to protect your work surface.</li>
<li>&nbsp; Set up your canvas or art paper on an easel or flat surface.</li>
</ul>

Step 1. Prepare Your Workspace:

<ul>
<li>&nbsp; &nbsp;Select a color palette based on your artistic vision. Consider the mood or theme you want to convey.</li>
</ul>

Step 2. Choose Your Colors:

<ul>
<li>If you are using a canvas that has already been used. Lightly sand the canvas down to remove any sealer that may have been applied to the canvas. </li>
<li>After, you can use a large brush to apply a base layer of acrylic paint to the entire canvas. This can be a solid color or a simple background. Then lightly sand the canvas again.</li>
</ul>

 Step3: Prepare Canvas:

<ul>
<li>To create a textured surface, mix your acrylic paint of choice with texture mediums ( gesso, modeling paste, and joint compound)&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>Note: You can use only a joint compound with a little bit of water to get a nice paste consistency. Adding modeling paste and gesso improves the quality of the paste.</li>
</ul>

<li>My Texture Paste Recipe (by volume)
<ul>
<li aria-level="1">
1 part Gesso
</li>
<li aria-level="1">
1 part Modeling Paste
</li>
<li aria-level="1">
2.5 &ndash; 3 parts Joint Compound
</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>&nbsp; &nbsp;Apply this mixture to the canvas using a putty knife. Experiment with different strokes and thicknesses. This is determined by whether you are creating larger textures that need to hold their shape or thinner/flatter ones, and the amount of paste needed.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>

Step 4: Mix Texture Mediums:

<ul>
<li>Use various texturing tools to create interesting patterns and effects. Try using sponges, stencils, or even unconventional items like bubble wrap to add texture. To create arches and lines, use a clay scrapper or square or v-notch trowel. I recommend using a v-notch trowel or scrapper to create nice lines and arches.&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>Note: To get clean lines with a V/square notch, angle the tool at a soft 30- 45-degree angle while you pull it across the canvas.</li>
</ul>

</ul>

Step 5. Explore Different Tools:

<ul>
<li>Experiment with various designs. Remember to keep a spray bottle of water around to keep the paste on the canvas moist as you experiment with different designs. While the paste is still wet, you can always change scrap it off, and try a new design. However, as the paste starts to harden, avoid making any adjustments.</li>
</ul>

Step 6. Have Fun

<ul>
<li>Allow your artwork to dry completely. This ensures that the textures and colors are set properly.</li>
</ul>

Step 7.  Let it Dry:

<ul>
<li>Step back and assess your artwork. Make any final adjustments or additions to achieve the desired look. This is the time to fill in any cracks or imperfections.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>

Step 8. Final Touches:

<ul>
<li>Once your textured art is complete and thoroughly dry, consider applying a varnish or sealant to protect the surface and enhance the colors.</li>
</ul>
