1970s Vintage Peach Sintered Glass Cowrie Shells Mud-Cloth Copper Pierced or Clip On Long Dangle Earrings
1970s 10x12mm Czech sintered glass barrel is an opaque deep peach orange-blush coral color. Sintered glass is made from colored glass powder heated to just below the melting point. Productions of these beads stopped in the 1980s. Three wire-wrapped cowrie (cowry) shells stand for wealth and fertility. Throughout Africa and the Caribbean, cowrie shells are a symbol of Goddess protection. Top bead is 11x9mm African mud-cloth bone oval. Patterns are painted on the bead with a mineral-rich mud and left out in the sun to bake. 4-1/8" (10.2 cm) long from the top of the pure copper earring backs. Available in pierced fishhook or non-pierced clip-on. Gift-ready in either an organza bag (default) or gift box upon request. Packaging styles change with availability.
