Fall Placemats Handmade with Hand Dyed Kona Cotton in Rich Autumn Colors
Bring the rich colors of autumn leaves indoors with a set of placemats which are both washable and reversible. Brick red, deep oranges, golds and earth tone rusts are all encompassed in the hand dyed cloth and will warm up your kitchen decor. My watercolor dyeing technique creates a distinctive texture similar to a batik; the color will be consistent, but each placemat is singular in its patterning. Kona cotton fabric is a medium weight fabric for everyday use that is strong and washable. The backing, binding and pieced front are all made from my hand dyed cotton fabric in the same color ombre gradient. The binding is double-fold binding that is machine stitched for ruggedness. I do minimal stitch in the ditch quilting to let the beauty of the hand dyed fabric shine for this particular set of place mats. (Note that I sell hand dyed fabric and so I am well versed at rinsing and soaking to remove excess fiber reactive dye; your placemats are colorfast.) Batting: low loft polyester or cotton polyester blend batting. I also use polyester thread for maximum durability Size: Each placemat is approximately 12 inches by 18 inches Quantity: Choose a set of two or four placemats. Care: Machine wash in cold water and tumble dry on low or lay flat to dry. You can touch up with a steam iron occasionally if needed.
